The Jyväskylä Student Theatre (Jyväskylän Ylioppilasteatteri, JYT) is a bold and ambitious amateur theatre founded in 1960. JYT is based on the campus of the University of Jyväskylä, in the Ilokivi student house. In addition to its productions, JYT actively participates in various cultural events both in its hometown of Jyväskylä and beyond. The theatre also offers commissioned performances for schools, companies, and other organizations.
For JYT members, a strong sense of community is essential, nurtured through social gatherings and other activities alongside theatre work. In addition to acting, members have the opportunity to take part in running the theatre.
JYT recruits new members through auditions. As an open and adaptable theatre, it always reflects the character of its members.
